Note 1: If your car is already tuned with a similar device/other tuner, you need to reflash your ECM back to stock with the old device or from any other way before to use our hand tuner, otherwise Your ECM will be bricked.

Note 2: PRIOR TO ANY DEALER VISIT, YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY REFLASH BACK TO STOCK, JUST CONNECT THE TOOL TO YOUR CAR/TRUCK AND TUNE WITH THE ORIGINAL FILE, THIS WILL PUT BACK TO STOCK YOUR VEHICULE, FAILING TO DO THIS WILL BRICK/LOCK THE POWERGATE TOOL ON THE OLD SOFTWARE AND THERE IS NOTHING TO DO TO UNLOCK THIS, YOU WILL NEED TO BUY A NEW POWERGTATE TOOL.

Note 3: After the dealer visit, you need to ''ERASE DATA'' on the powergate/smart tuner and take a new read of the new software, then send it to us so we can redo a new tune on the new software.

Note 4: If you run out of credit trying to erase the Powergate tuner, take note of the serial number of your tool, you can find it in the upper right corner of the screen when the software is open on your PC or laptop, and write to Alientech to ask for more credit, adding credit is free of charge: https://www.alientech-usa.com/index.php/contact-us

• 1:Install the powergate/smart tuner software onto your computer/laptop, it must be a Windows based platform.
• 2:Connect the powergate/smart tuner into your computer/laptop, start the software, and wait for the update and confirm that the smart tuner is working correctly.
• 3:Disconnect the smart tuner from your computer/laptop and go to your car and connect the Smart tuner into the OBDII port of your car.
• 4:In the main menu choose ''Tuning'' and choose your car brand & model. For 2004 to 2006 BEW/BRM/BHW 1.9L TDI, the choosen car must correspond to EDC16U31 ECM, the ECM type is written in the bottom of each page.
• 5:Disconnect the powergate/smart tuner from your computer/laptop and go to your car and connect the Smart tuner into the OBDII port of your car.
• 6:Take a read of the stock ECM, this process may take several minute, do not disturb this process, everything must be turned off in your vehicule, except the ignition ON and the engine NOT RUNNING.
• 7: Once the read is finished, Connect the powergate/smart tuner back to your computer/laptop and download the read file into your computer/laptop, it must be a .usr file.
• 8: Login the MRTuning website and use the automatic tune creator.
• 9:Connect the powergate/smart tuner to your laptop PC, open the software and upload the modified file into powergate/smart tuner.
• 10:Disconnect the smart tuner from your computer/laptop and connect it to your car/truck OBDII port, in the main menu, go to tuning, choose the file you want to use, and write the ECM with the choosen file, the engine must NOT RUN.
